Ah, I was mixing up 憩 qì (have a rest) and 栖 qī (dwell, stay)!

They don’t look alike at all, but their pronunciation is close and their meaning is kind of close too.

I’ve added the hanzi to my card. I add the two characters that I mix up, and clicking on each of them reveal its pronunciation, meaning and words that contain it (only the one I already know and are already in Anki).

I’ve been doing this for some months now, and it works well! It’s one of the best additions I made to Anki recently (I mean, it suits my way of learning, I know it’s not really how Anki should work.)

Flashcard for learning Chinese that shows a sentence in Chinese with two words highlighted at the top. Then a line. Then the two highlighted word in a table (first column), the second row has the mouse cursor on it, and the pronunciation and meaning of the word appear next to it. Then there are two different Chinese characters, and a table showing the pronunciation and meaning of the first character.

100-day Anki streak! :frog_celebrate:

Last year, I also had my streak intact until about the same time, and then I broke my elbow, and I stopped reviewing Anki because I was so tired and demotivated. While I did go back to it eventually, I was never able to start a new streak after that.

Let’s see how it goes this year, but so far so good!

The top part of a notebook page filled with circles and other shapes containing numbers starting from 1 and going up to 365 though only half of it is visible on the picture. Circles up to 100 have been coloured with pencils.

80 days of Anki streak! :ablobsunglasses:

Yellow is for days when I reviewed my cards but didn’t learn any new cards.
Light green is for days when I reviewed + learn my quota of 5 new cards.
Dark green is for days when I also added new cards.

I’m not struggling too much to complete my reviews, but my goal is to avoid those yellow days. I added so many new cards at once during Lantern Rite that I was all set for a while, but lately I’m having a hard time keeping up. I’m basically adding the 5 new cards of the day just before starting my reviews :blob_smilesweat:

Top part of a notebook showing a page with a 365 check sheet. The page is filled with circles for everyday of the year (numbered from 1 to 365, but the picture only shows up to 196). The first 80 circles are coloured with light and dark green. Only day 8 is coloured in yellow.

I’ve exhausted all my new cards from Lantern Rite, so I’ve added some from Nod-Krai world quests. I added 20 cards, which felt like a lot, but it’s only going to last 4 days, then I’ll need to add new ones again :blob_dead:

I’m working on adding the meaning of single characters to some Anki cards, especially when words contain characters that I often mix up, or characters that have different meanings and pronunciations.

I’m using the Notes app to store them, so I can just copy paste them when needed instead of rewriting everything.

For example, I keep mixing up 蕾 and 擂 (I know their meaning, but I keep forgetting which one is which tone), and what didn’t help is that 擂 has two different pronunciations and meanings. The example words on the right are all words I’ve learned and are somewhere in Anki.

A flashcard for learning languages with a chibi character and a sentence in Chinese on top. Then there’s a line and two Chinese characters with blank space next to them. Then there’s an icon and two characters: 蕾 and 擂. Then a table showing two different pronunciation for 擂 with their respective meaning and a word that contains the character.

I added Citlali to my cards with 130% ease (the minimum), the images are displayed randomly. She’s so grumpy, it fits those annoying cards perfectly haha.

Lantern Rite day 2 + Anki

Finally saw Xiao! :neocat_heart:

I really like my current pace of just doing one dialogue and then add words to Anki, and as long as I haven’t studied the current dialogue, I can’t continue the story. I’m really glad the event lasts longer this time.

I always like adding Xiao’s lines to Anki, but there was only one new expression to me in what he said (at least in this short dialogue): 火中取栗 huǒ zhōng qǔ lì: pull sb’s chestnuts out of the fire: be a cat’s paw.

A screen divided into three windows: Left is a flashcard app showing the interface to add new words, right is a reader showing a text in Chinese with a pop-up dictionary definition for a highlighted expression, and finally, a video showing a game cutscene is floating on top of the flashcard app.

I hadn’t added enough new cards last time, so I have to add new ones today too… hopefully I can add enough to last the whole week!

I’m still working on the AQ Act2, about 2/3 through. I’m hoping to finish it before the Lantern Rite event.

Adding cards to Anki! :neocat_laptop:
One of my goals for 2026 is to learn new words every day, but it’s hard to keep up with adding enough new cards…

I just went through my last new 5 cards… it means I’ll have to add new cards tomorrow before reviewing (or maybe later today if I have time).
If I add 35 cards, it’s going to be enough new cards for a whole week.

Inhae @blue@social.inhae.blog · 08:54

Only three new cards available in Anki, and my limit is five new cards per day… so I guess it’s time to add new cards to Anki again!

First line completed! :frog_celebrate:

At first I just wanted to find a use for this page of the Hobonichi Weeks so I decided to use it for my Anki streak, but it turns out that checking the days myself instead of relying on the Anki built-in calendar helps me a lot with maintaining my streak.

And with this I can tell apart the days when I learnt new cards (light green) and the days when I only reviewed older cards without new ones (yellow). I really want to try to avoid these yellow days as much as possible this year. I think I did okay in reviewing my cards last year, but I haven’t learned a lot of new words, which is a shame…

Dark green is for days when I did my reviews AND added new cards to Anki.

I’m adding the names of some of the locations of Nasha Town to Anki, and I just learnt that the fastener that comes with a bolt is called a “nut” in English.

The part of town with the general goods store and the alchemy bench is called “nuts and screws” in Chinese, and in English it’s Nuts ‘N’ Nuts.

I looked at the other languages, and I learnt that each “nut” has a different transcription in Japanese ナッツ&ナット, and French pushed the pun further with Boulons à la noix. (boulons is bolt, noix is nut, but “à la noix” is an expression that means worthless, crappy, stupid…)

I haven’t added words to Anki since the beginning of Nod-Krai… I’m still working on the Clink Clank Clash event, and I haven’t studied the Archon Quest yet. I also skipped three days of reviews :ablobgrimace:

Time to go back to studying seriously! Currently adding words from last patch’s event :neocat_laptop:

I caught up on my Anki reviews!! It has taken me my Saturday morning, but with 36C outside, there’s not much to do anyway.
Might go out tonight, when the sun is down.

I changed my Anki cards for a Lynette theme. I like the brown and green together, not two colours I would have spontaneously matched, but I followed Lynette’s colour palette, and I really like the result.
